The short answer

No. The end of the option period does not move for a Saturday, a Sunday or a Legal Holiday. Paragraph 5B sets it a fixed number of days after the Effective Date and contains no extension language. The notice of termination is due by 5:00 p.m. that day, local time where the property sits.

The earnest money deadline is the opposite. Paragraph 5A(2) does extend. The two sit in the same paragraph and follow different rules, which is why they are so often confused.

A worked example

On a contract with an Effective Date of Thursday, November 19, 2026 and a seven-day option period:

Both dates were produced by the same deadline engine that runs inside the product, when this page was built.

What happens if you miss it?

The unrestricted right to terminate ends. It is not delayed and it does not roll to the next business day — after 5:00 p.m. it is simply gone, and the buyer is left with whatever other termination rights the contract gives them. That is what makes this the most expensive date on a Texas contract to misread.
